Forresters' client MarXman tames the Dragons
15 August 2016 by Andy Harding

Our client MarXman Ltd featured on the BBC's Dragons' Den show on 14 August 2016. We are delighted that they secured offers from all five dragons - an extremely rare feat in the den.

The MarXman pen is a new tool for easily marking a drilling reference point on a wall. The pen is first inserted into the hole of the bracket being mounted. It is then activated simply by applying pressure to the pen, which causes a concentrated burst of a marking substance to be sprayed down the hole and onto the wall.

Dragons' Den, now in its 14th series, allows budding entrepreneurs 3 minutes to pitch their business to five angel investors willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.  After mulling over all of the dragons' offers, MarXman agreed to accept the full £50K investment from Deborah Meaden, in return for a 30% stake in the business.

We worked closely with MarXman from the very beginning of their business, to help protect their valuable IP. The product is extensively protected by patents in the UK, Europe and China, and a US patent application is pending. The name 'Marxman' is protected by a registered trade mark.

Andy Harding, the Forresters partner who represents MarXman, said "Martin put his heart and soul into this ingenious idea, so we secured wide patent protection for him to protect all his hard work. We supported Martin and Jenny throughout the Dragon's Den process - even holding a mock den session in our offices! I'm so proud of their very well-deserved success"

Martin Chard added: "Getting the patent was a major step in MarXman's journey. With the assistance of Forresters and their in-depth knowledge of patents, I've been able to protect my product".

The MarXman pen is on sale now at their website http://www.marxmanpen.co.uk/ or at the counter of any branch of Wickes.
